#5

So happy we had a sunny, warm day for tball. The last few weeks we have been bundled up in jackets and blankets trying to keep warm.
Running to first...
Waiting for some action.
He actually had a few balls to come his way and made 2 outs at first and one at second. The kid can throw... catching is another story!
Not exactly sure what is happening here... chaos!

6 years ago today...

a tiny baby boy was born. Sam surprised us by arriving a month before his due date... but was happy and healthy.
Today he turned 6! He was so excited this week to have a birthday. Every day he kept asking "am I 6 yet?"

He also lost his first tooth today! It was a big day for Sam!
Tonight we had a party at Out of This World Pizza. His only request was that there be an R2D2 on his cake.
Ben's only request was that we turn his cake over so he could "lick the frost"...
Presents...
Tired cousins... and R2D2.

The party was a hit and we finally got them home about 3 hours later. It was time for bed and Sam started getting nervous about the tooth fairy. He started asking all kinds of questions:

Will I hear her?
How will she get under my pillow?
Does she fly?
Will her wings touch me?
Where does she live?

So we decided the tooth would go on the dresser so the tooth fairy wouldn't get too close.

I can't believe our little guy is 6. In the past year he has changed so much and grown up in so many ways. He started kindergarten and played on soccer, basketball and tball teams. He's met new friends, lost much of his shyness, become more curious, more confident, and questions how most things work, and is a great big brother to Ben. Every week he looks taller and some day won't fit on my lap anymore. He still loves to snuggle and write me sweet notes about how cool I am, and how much he loves me. We'll see how long that lasts! I can't wait to see how he grows in the coming year. Happy Birthday Sam!

We survived another busy weekend

Brian had his annual high school guys beach trip this weekend. Of course we had 2 swimming lessons, a tball game and a birthday party on Saturday. Since I am supposed to be "taking it easy" for a while... mom and dad came over to help me shuttle the kids here and there and keep me sane. Brian got home today and had UP graduation this afternoon followed by a softball game so things haven't really slowed down. I took the boys to watch the game and they loved kicking their soccer ball, rolling down hills and playing at the playground. May is our crazy month - it seems every weekend is packed... all good things but looking forward to life slowing down a bit in June. Here's hoping!

First Game

Sam had his first t-ball game today... we had rain, wind, sun and more rain. It was downright cold at some points but the kids did great. Especially considering the practice followed by the game took an hour and a half. Toward the end, they were hopping around, picking grass and ready to be done. They are super cute - hardly any of them can catch... or throw well but they do have fun!

I'm sure there will be a few minor touch-ups...

BUT... after many weeks it's finally done!
Here is a reminder of what used to be...
The kids have been asking to take a bath in the new tub... I was just getting used to the quick shower routine!

Busy Weekend

We had a crazy but good weekend... tball practice, swimming lessons, time with friends, 2 BBQs etc. One of the highlights for the kids was feeding corn to the cows on a friend's farm. Sam actually "hit" the cows with a few ears of corn - oops!

My car

Yesterday I ran over to Trader Joe's and came home to this scene... the boys had their beach buckets out and were washing my car with Brian. They loved it!

It's here!

The boys have been waiting and waiting for the new bunk bed to arrive. It got here yesterday and they are so excited. We weren't planning on moving Ben into Sam's room until summer, but last night he insisted on sleeping in there. It took him forever to finally fall asleep, but they both slept all night without a peep. We'll see how tonight goes!

Getting closer...

Just a few random tiles, another mirror, grout, sink faucets, fillers for the cabinets and drawer knobs/pulls and we will be done! Hoping this all happens in the next day or two. We love how it is coming along!

Tball

Sam started tball this week and is loving it. I was a little nervous that he might be bored after the constant action during basketball season. His team "the Pirates" have had 2 practices, and he can hardly wait until the next one. He told me today that he still likes soccer and basketball but that tball is the "most funnest of all...".

Easter 2010

The kids were so excited this morning. Ben ran downstairs and said "Mom, I don't see the Easter Bunny anywhere!"... Sam found a note from Mr. E. Bunny. I must say... Mr. E did a great job hiding the eggs and leaving a cute note for the boys.
Egg hunt and yummy brunch at Gail's house with cousins!Maybe a little too much chocolate...

Wow!

So crazy what technology can do these days. We had the big ultrasound on Friday and everything looks good and the baby is measuring right on track. We were also surprised to find out we are having a girl this time! Sam was so excited - he has been asking for a baby sister. I told him the news after school and his response was something like "YEAH! YEAH! YES, YES, YES! It IS a girl!!"

Ben wants to name her "Sprek" or "Ladybug"...
The photo below is too funny... it totally looks like she is blowing bubbles. Apparently what looks like bubbles is part of the umbilical cord. And to everyone who keeps telling me I am huge and that I must be having twins - here is the proof... only one baby! :-)

Gum

The boys wanted to try gum the other day. Sam changed his mind before he even put it in his mouth. Here is Ben trying to decide what he thinks. He chewed it for about 30 seconds and then wanted to "put it down in my tummy".

More Newport...

We are back home and had such a fun time at the beach. Great weather, great food, lots of relaxation and now back to reality.
