First day of preschool!

Harper survived her first day of preschool last week!  She told me she was going to scream and cry and throw a fit when I dropped her off... she did have some tears but ended up having a great day.  It is the first time in 9 years I've had all 3 kids in school at the same time -- not sure what to do with 2 hours of free time 2x a week! :)

First day of school

Successful re-entry back to school!  The boys both have great teachers and are happy to be back with friends... I'm happy for a routine again. :)

Harper starts preschool!

Harper had her first day of preschool today!  She is old enough for the 2s class at the same school Ben went to the last few years.  Her class meets once a week for 2 hours.  The parents stay onsite since they are only 2... she loved it!

First day!

Here we go... the first day of school 2012!  Sam is going into 3rd grade and Ben into kindergarten.  Hard to believe!  Harper doesn't know what to think - she spends her days following them around and doing everything they do!

Bittersweet

Last Friday marked the last day of preschool for Ben.  I can't believe he is off to kindergarten in the fall.

How is he getting so big so fast?

“I see children as kites. You spend a lifetime trying to get them off the ground. You run with them until you’re both breathless ... they crash ... you add a longer tail ... finally they are airborne, but they need more string so you keep letting it out. With each twist of the ball of twine there is a sadness that goes with the joy, because the kite becomes more distant, and somehow you know it won’t be long before that beautiful creature will snap the lifeline that bound you together and soar as it was meant to soar, free and alone.”

Fall Field Trip

Ben's preschool class lucked out on Monday... no rain at the pumpkin patch! It had been pouring all morning and it was actually pretty nice the whole time we were there.
Our first trip to Plumper Pumpkin Patch! It was great - hayride, lots of animals, slides and pumpkins.
Ben found a caterpillar!
This farm was great for my animal loving kid! Turkeys, ducks, baby chicks, baby cows, goats, baby pigs, donkeys, ponies and even a dog that tried to follow us home.

First day for Ben

Here it is... Ben's first day of his last year of preschool. Next year he will join Sam at Oak Hills!
Ben loved the activities they had out today... golf ball painting, huge water table with colored rocks, beading, writing center, train tracks, blocks, trucks, puzzles, play-doh etc.
Loves to paint!
Playing trains with his friend Andrew... they were in the same class last year!

First day of school!

My boy is in 2nd grade - I can't believe it! He can't wait to go back tomorrow, so I'm taking that as a good sign that it's going to be a great year.

Science Fair 2011

We survived another science fair! Sam did a project on which type of paper airplanes fly the farthest... he had the marlin, hammerhead, salmon and seagull. All of the kids got certificates and blue ribbons from the reviewers... pretty cute!

Max

Ben brought Max the bear home from preschool yesterday... each child gets a turn to take Max home and write about their adventures in the class journal. Ben has been dragging him around everywhere.

First Field Trip

Today Ben's preschool class went to the pumpkin patch. They ran around the hay maze, rode the tractor, looked at animals and picked out the perfect pumpkins. Ben wanted the "biggest pumpkin of all" but then decided if he couldn't carry it himself, he didn't want it!

1st Day of School

We survived the first morning of school chaos! Up early, lunch and snacks packed, school supplies ready to go etc. Sam was so excited for his first day and to ride the bus... and the bus never came! I was at school waiting and Brian had all 3 kids at the bus stop for 25 minutes! I came home to get Sam and the bus came rolling down our hill... empty with a not so friendly driver. We made it to school and Sam found his room and a few friends from last year. I can't believe he is a big 1st grader!
After getting Sam settled it was time to drop Ben off at preschool! His first day in the 3s class and he did great with me dropping him off. Yay Ben!
Here is his class coming back from the playground. Ben is in the blue coat next to the teacher... on the way home today he said "I hope my teachers will miss me..."
