We have had record temps here in Portland this week... they are expecting it to be 107 today! Yesterday we swam with friends to stay cool - the kids had a blast!
Sam has been going to Otter Camp this week and loves it! It is 3 hours each day at the Conestoga Rec Center -- they do games, crafts, playtime, snack and swimming. He is so proud of the things he brings home and to tell me all about the pool, playing with his buddy Kaitlynn etc.
I can't believe today was our last full day here! Brian and I took a long bike ride out by the river early this morning... Sam stayed at the house to play with Lizzie (he is now an expert on Polly Pockets), and Ben rode along with us in the bike trailer.
This afternoon we went to the pool with all of the cousins. The boys played on the slide and swam/floated around quite a bit since it was our last time at the pool before heading home. We had a huge steak dinner with Mom and Dad, the Arnolds, Grandma Mary, the Fees and the Huffords. The kids ran wild, rode bikes, made huge mud pits, got filthy and ran through the sprinklers. It has been a great week and gone way too fast!
Jackson and Eli arrived from Sacramento! The kids had a great time swimming in the hot tub, having water fights, riding bikes and running around with their cousins. It's our last full day here in Sunriver. We are off to ride bikes, visit family, hit the pool and have a big BBQ tonight.
We rode out to the horse stables this morning... I pulled the kids in the bike trailer and they kept a look out for animals. We saw a coyote and a few squirrels... they thought that was pretty exciting.
Sam likes watching the horses but does NOT want to ride them. Ben sat on a pony for about 30 seconds and decided that was enough! Lizzie and Ian both rode the loop and loved it...
Here are the boys watching...
We rode to the park on the way home and let the kids run off some energy. Later in the afternoon we hit the pool and then home for some tball in the back yard. Lots of playing here in Sunriver - not a lot of sleeping but the kids are having fun!
The kids are having such a good time in Sunriver. Lots of bike riding, swimming, playing tennis and baseball in the yard etc. Aunt Susie and Uncle Denny came over Sunday night and we celebrated Lizzie's 6th Birthday!
Ben really wanted Mac to eat his food Saturday. I came downstairs and he had him in a headlock and was dragging him to the bowl and trying to shove his head into the food... "Eat your food Mac! Come on!"
The boys and I met some friends at Peninsula Park today in N. Portland. It is a beautiful park with the 2nd oldest playground in Portland. They have huge fir trees, fields for soccer and softball, basketball courts, community center, fountain, wading pool and rose gardens.
Ben has been very excited about babies lately. He likes to touch their hands and toes, pet their heads and tell me how cute they are...
Brian was holding Taylor (Kristi's baby) last night and Ben climbed right up. I don't think he wanted another baby taking over ALL of his daddy's lap...
Pretty soon he wanted Taylor to go see her mom and Brian to himself. Love the eyebrows!
Dad and I took the boys to Oaks Park this morning... they have a summer deal on T/W mornings...kids under 6 can ride all of the kiddy rides for $6. I think we rode 15 rides!
Ben had no fear - he rode everything - he even sat in the first car of the roller coaster and asked to do it again the minute it stopped. Sam wasn't so sure when we got to the top of the first hill but ended up with big smiles the rest of the way!
The cars were also a hit...
Motorcycles...
Wild boat ride...
Frog hopper...
This tilt-a-whirl packed a powerful punch... the first time we rode it, our car never stopped spinning. I was worried the boys would be freaked out but they just laughed and smiled the whole time.
