Maui... Day 3

This morning we drove up north to the Nakalele Blowhole. It is a rocky hike and not the greatest for younger kids, but they all did great and loved it. The blowhole is the result of the ocean wearing away the shore below the lava shelf. With each wave, water is forced through a hole in the lava shelf resulting in the "eruption" of water similar to a geyser. The waves and water were pretty amazing.
Tonight we took the kids to a Luau at the Royal Lahaina Hotel. They LOVED it... especially the end when they were dancing with fire.
Only a few more days before we return to the rainy NW...

Day 2... Maui

The boys were up at 5:15 this morning and ready to roll... yikes! We were able to keep them busy until around 8, and then headed down to the beach and pool.

Sam and Griffin love bodysurfing! We also tried boogie boarding today and they all loved it!
Just down the beach we saw a bunch of sea turtles... really cool! Hard to get decent pix without getting soaked... but here are a few of them swimming around.
The kids crashed out for a couple of hours this afternoon and then we went to check out Kapalua Bay. It wasn't too busy since we went later in the afternoon... great little cove for the kids to play and snorkel.
There were lots of fish around the rocks... lots of different striped and colored fish... even nemo! Sam is an awesome snorkeler!
Ended the day with a BBQ while the kids played football and wore each other out. Hoping they sleep in past 6 tomorrow!

Aloha!

Yesterday we flew to Maui with our friends Derek and Jennah and their kids. The plane ride was LONG... but we finally made it and are having a great time. We are staying in Kahana, just north of Kaanapali.
Sam is down on the rocks (photo above) looking for the sea turtles that pass by each morning...
The boys are loving the warm ocean!
Ben is quite the little snorkeler... here he is in the kiddie pool.
Miss independent at Kaanapali Beach.
Body surfing is a huge hit!
Wave jumping!
The boys did a little snorkeling at black rock... we didn't expect to see anything but they saw a few schools of fish and a sea turtle. They loved it!
Pretty great first day in Hawaii!

Snorkeling

The kids were practicing their snorkeling tonight in the bathtub. The boys usually take a shower so there was not much room to move around in the tub with all 3 of them swimming around!

Coloring

Harper likes to color... and not just paper. Usually she ends up with purple hands, face, clothes etc. Hoping some crayons keep her busy on the plane next weekend for at least 5 minutes.
