Weekend in Rockaway Beach

We left Portland Thursday afternoon and drove to the beach with friends. It was sunny and warm - perfect since we have had so much rain lately. The house was right on the beach and had a great backyard where the kids could dig and play for hours.

Our kite was missing a piece but the boys found a stick to use and made it work.

The kids loved the hot tub! Every time they came in from the ocean they jumped in to get warm.

They loved jumping in and running from the waves... the water was freezing but they didn't care...

We spent most of the day every day out on the beach loving the sun, sand and water. We ate a ton of great food and were exhausted by the end of each day. Lots of cards, trivial pursuit and good times with great friends. Thanks Jevnings and Murphys for a wonderful weekend away! xoxo

Cousins

Yesterday we had our first 80 degree day of the year. Brian ran the Helvetia 10K in the morning while the kids and I explored the farmer's market. The kids picked out berries, played in the fountain and devoured Fetzer sausages - it was perfect. Well except for Sam whining that he was too hot...and tired and not wanting to walk 5 blocks back to the car.
After they both took 3 hour naps we went over to Kelly and Paul's for dinner. The boys ran around with Zoe and Simon until they were exhausted. It was so nice to catch up and enjoy a warm night!

Park

We met a few of Ben's preschool friends at Magnolia Park this morning. Ben started putting his feet in the fountain... and soon his shorts and sweatshirt were wet. He stripped down to his undies and then tried to convince me to let him go naked. It was not very warm out and he quickly decided he wanted his wet clothes back on! C'mon summer!

Art

The boys painted pictures for their friends Griffin and Sabine this weekend. Usually Sam just paints the entire sheet of paper one color... so I was surprised to see actual images!

Coast

I spent the weekend in Arch Cape with friends and it was beautiful! 70 degrees and sunny! Returned Sunday and so did the rain...

Where is summer?

We have had record rain fall in May and this first week of June... The last several weeks of tball practices and games have been rained out and it is just plain dark, dreary and wet out there! Ben doesn't seem to mind... he has been running around all day in his underwear. Always smiling!

Reader's Theater

Yesterday Sam's kindergarten class broke into small groups and performed 5 short stories. They were kind of like little skits without costumes. Sam played a hippo with a toothache named Harry. He kept looking up and smiling at me but read his lines nice and loud! This was after a 3 hour field trip to the Hoyt Arboretum. He was exhausted when he got home. I found him asleep in bed at 4:30!
